In his
opinion , it probably cannot be done within the 7 million . If you decided
to seek additional funding from the State, you would need about another 2
million .
Paul agreed it would be very tough to fit a pool within the $ 7 million
budget. The State may reimburse us for community use items , but net as
much as the cost of a pool . He would like the architects to show , however ,
how it may fit intro the design .
Bill Jones added that staffing and operating the pool also has to be
considered when making this decision . we must give the public options . A
logical time to bring this to the community would be October town meeting .
Would that be a. problem for the architects'
Bob explained that if the community decided for the pool , the documents for
the pool may not be completed by the Dec . 20 bid date but could go out soon
after thatIF
The pool does not have -to be open by Sept. 1996 .
Mark chert asked if the pool will be part of the discussion at tomorrow
night ' s open house
Peter said people will ask about i t . They can tell them they are doing the
best they can to fit the pool within the budget
Ian suggested that at about the time the schematics are completed we should
get an idea of ghat the pool may cost.
Bob Fournier said if the Committee wants to try to get the pool reimbursed
they should start discussions with GESS and Dr. DeMoura to see if the
educational program could be changed to include the pool and see how much
community use they will reimburse. You will then now how much to rely upon
from the State.,
Dr. DeMoura explained the State has already said they would reimburse the
pool within the 183 ; 000 sq feet. Presently there are already too many
teaching stations in the physical education area and the pool would add
another. It would be difficult to add the pool where we already h ave too
many teaching stations.
Peter asked Dr . DeMoura if the auxiliary gym is essential to his program?
He responded it is not . It is in the program for Leisure Services ,
community use .,
Ed said they will need to know that early in the schematic design phase if
the community wants to swap the auxiliary gym for the pool .
Net to goes ratios Ian and Paul still have some reservations . They
asked ghat the State would consider for the factor's
Ed said he does not think the Sate cares
Paul said they have already told the committee that 1 . 45 was too high and
is not acceptable.
Site Develop t - last week the committee agreed on the playing f i e l ds ii
2
