To soften the sound use acoustical ceilings to <br /> absorb then noise . Create a more "residential " environment. <br /> Bill Martiros asked how they will transfer the feeling , flair and <br /> creativity described for the exterior to the interior of the school ? <br /> Mark Chen explained he grew in Massachusetts and there are materials which <br /> are part of the architectural heritage of New England - red oak provides <br /> warmth and friendliness . Providing a mature academic environment. <br /> Linoleum is user friendly and environmentally conscious. <br /> Ed added every award they have received was in recognition for the regional <br /> character created by the design . <br /> Joe asked Ray how you work with mechanical , electrical engineers and high <br /> tech up front, early in the design? <br /> Ray explained they will develop the design together, as a team and interact <br /> with the Committee. The design will come together simultaneously . <br /> Joe stated , after their visit to Nantucket, he has to recognize Phil <br /> Pinnelli ' s work; it was very interesting work . <br /> Peter asked if Mark or Phil will be the lead designer? <br /> Ed explained Mark will take the lead in the beginning and Phil will lead <br /> during the technical phase. <br /> Michael said Perkins and Will brings national experience , does this include <br /> the ability to assist in our educational program by bringing in national <br /> ideas that might help our students be more competitive? <br /> Ray responded absolutely . This is an opportunity to take advantage, with a <br /> brand new facility, to foster interdisciplinary instruction ideas . Now will <br /> technology impact on the curriculum. We have worked with so many different <br /> educational consultants that it gives us a terrific data base . <br /> Most architects in Mass. have done 1 house plan , Perkins and Will have done <br /> 10. <br /> The Committee agreed they would like to see the CAD demonstration, a <br /> projection of the computer screen . <br /> DRUMMEY ROSANE ANDERSON <br /> Carl Rranceschi , David Anderson and Pao Chi were present from DRA and Gary <br /> Larson. These are the key people who will be working with Mashpee. Today <br /> they will share their thoughts , more specifically , for Mashpee 's project <br /> including site plan , floor plans and interior , exterior views including an <br /> animated video of the design concept. <br /> Carl said they have read Dr. Collabro' s draft program and recognize and it <br /> is a draft. They would like to add their input into the program, help to <br /> fine tune it and suggest some alternatives to consider. <br /> Site Plan : Gary Larson presented a sketch of the site plan and said they <br /> are now able to be more compact. The school and related fields take up <br /> about 45 acres and about 70 acres would be needed for the land taking <br /> ( including buffers, tops of hills, etc . ) . They located the school closer <br /> to the entrance , with a shorter road , so you are not looking across fields <br /> or parking lots when you enter the site . The school is seen through a <br /> 7 <br />
