- w i nan ne c a, IL built in the 1940's . was the first modern" high <br /> school of its time, <br /> South end of New Mexico- poorest part of the country. This <br /> school design won an awardf <br /> - <br /> New High school in Santa Fe. New Mexico, MMA can tailor a <br /> design to the local situation. Library was timbered cei1ing. <br /> Community entrance for the theater and athletic facilities. <br /> Model - very good to use to explain design to the public. <br /> Wausau, Ind - used a lot of glass inside to connect spaces . <br /> 5 ,000 seats in the gym. <br /> Fort co l l i ns, co - a curved "walkway" ties all the spaces <br /> together. <br /> - Middle schoo 1 and Junior high school which share kitchen, <br /> boiler and gym. Each building has its own entrance and <br /> pickup/drop of area so the students rarely meet. <br /> - Perry - a large comple with many facilities on l site. An <br /> elementary , middle and high school and a community fitness <br /> center. Astro turf football field. Outstanding technology <br /> teaching center. <br /> They tested this facility on #ashpee's site, so the committee can <br /> get a sense of proportion . <br /> They used linoleum floors . 750 seat theater. Indoor running <br /> track and field house. Olympic size pool <br /> Technology: control panel which controls all the classrooms . <br /> Each classroom has a phone. TV in each room which acts as the <br /> clock , bell and fire alarm. <br /> They provided space, so technology which is unavailable or <br /> unaffordable now can be incorporated in the future. <br /> Northern Minneapolis , an environmental learning center for high <br /> school students . The architecture is much like cape Cod., <br /> Deerfield Elementary school , is their most recent school <br /> facility, ,'ust completed . Designed for 450 students with <br /> expansion capacity for 600. All core facilities sized for boo ■ <br /> - Nantucket High School , had to go before the historic district <br /> commission. Used cedar shingles/white painted trim. Auditorium, <br /> gym and pool are accessible without having the community enter <br /> the rest of the school . Lecture hall for 80 people. <br /> Mr, F re ne tte explained when they first assembled the team, they <br /> thought site issues were the major component but it seems the <br /> focus has changed from site to design and therefor he will be the <br /> p ro, ect director . ale has designed 3 high schools recently. <br /> Mr. Brubaker discussed programming and used overhead <br /> transparencies . He presented some various layouts, compact, <br /> double loaded, corridor and the various Options within the <br /> layouts . A house plan also has many options, There can be a <br /> learning center for each discipline.
