He asked that the Committee consider not using insulated glass , it has been a huge maintenance problem in the diddle and Coombs schools . He suggested the storm panels used in the addition . He asked there be no flat roofs . Everyone discussed the insulated glass . It is a good value if specified properly , There is an energy code to be met and insulated glass will probably have to be used to meet it. Today ' s technology is different and they have not experience any problems with this technology . Dr . DeMoura responded the Coombs school opened in 1989 and the installers are still replacing glass. INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS Greg Taylor sent a memo to the Committee on the signalization of the intersection . The first step is a traffic study , full design of the intersection . The intersection needs to be re-aligned . You should plan now for the land needed for improvements while designing the entrance . The installation of the signal will cost between $50 , 000-$126 , 000 . Total cost will be $150 , 000-$300 , 000 . Paul said the budget does not include money for off site work . He thought the improvements were something that was on the boards in the future . Greg said it is not. Paul asked if it could be a separate warrant item to the town? It could . Bill said when the PAC goes in , they will use the intersection as much as the school , will they share in the cost? Can that be made subject to getting their permits? Steve said you cannot charge them after the fact . Paul suggested submitting a letter to Bob Whritenour asking how to go about it, it is out of this Committee ' s scope. Merry Sue noted in the comparison between the two sites there was a line item for the signal , but the cost was not this high . Peter asked if the school could be built without the light , who requires it? Greg Taylor said the Committee . Greg said the $6 , 400 traffic study and $30 , 000 design fee should be funded so this can move ahead and then you can get a better idea of the final costs of the site improvements and signal . The plans all have to be reviewed by the State , it takes time . He would like to see it designed over the winter . Peter asked if it is the opinion of the Committee the intersection has to be improved? The Committee agreed it does have to be improved . Paul said he would like to research this subject a little more . The Committee will talk about it further at their next meeting . Ian said any questions from the Committee on Shannon ' s schematic design review would be helpful . Bob Fournier will prepare a formal response but will continue discussing it with Shannon .
