He spoke to Bob Whritenour about it today . He is continuing his efforts to get permission . Mr. Esteves suggested considering this a civil defense building which would require putting the gym on emergency power . A cost benefit comparison should be performed on the roof insulation . Lighting is a major issue in schools and therefore the Committee should request lighting mock up of a classroom. Don ' t use fiberglass liner in duct work . He also provided some cost alternatives to consider . He suggests plastic partition in the bathrooms, it is a great , virtually indestructible material . It does have a long lead time . Paul asked about package units on page 4 and the long range operating costs associated . Tony said that roof top units are the cheapest. Bob said they will talk more about alternative systems during the value management workshop . Bill Martiros asked about dual fuel system. There is a tremendous savings if you have the flexibility to switch from one system to the other . There would need to be a vault to store the oil Peter asked the architects to cost out installing a vault, Paul asked if an emergency generator is required in the school ? It is not. You need 90 minute backup for lights and alarms . Janice said the Middle School has a generator for backup electricity for civil defense shelter Paul briefly reviewed the comments he and Joe made on the specs. Not agreeable to exterior wood . HVAC - indoor temperature may be to hot, bring it down a couple of degrees . May want to air condition the cafeteria now because it may be used as assembly area often . PVC pipe instead of steel for sprinklers . Interior lighting , multi level switch in office but not speced in classrooms . Telephone , public address and video communication systems , use some combinatin of 2 systems . Generator system, only 1 required for sewage treatment plant. Roadway and parking lots, granite curbing , poured concrete is cheaper . Bill suggested running a conduit to the ballfields for future lighting . 5
