All members were in favor . ** The Committee requested SMMA talk with GESS about additional funding for the sewage treatment plant . They spoke with Jim Anderson last week who said there will be no further reimbursement for the sewage treatment plant. It must come from the $150 . reimbursement per sq ft. SMMA explained they felt Mashpee was dealing with an additional burden because of the STP requirement . Mr. Anderson said the State recognizes that but that' s the way it is . He suggested eliminating some programs they claim are duplicating the vocational school . Paul suggested we express our concerns with Rep . Tom Cahir . All other communities over the bridge have sewage systems for their schools to tie into. This item potentially becomes a 140% cost item to us . The Committee agreed it is worth pursuing with Rep. Cahir and Peter will talk with him about it. Bob Fournier said the school will need a certified waste water treatment operator on staff to operate the plant and should start to plan for it now. Bob also said the Committee needs to start the process of the Old Barnstable Road 151 intersection improvements . The Committee has to move it along so the work will be complete when the school opens. Tom Fudala asked where the money will come from to do it? Engineering designs will cost about $50 ,000 and $50 , 00 more for a signal . He has a traffic consultant working on the comprehensive plan but the work is not detailed enough for this. SMMA contract is strictly on site work . Paul suggested sending a letter to Grey Taylor asking him to proceed to undertake whatever is necessary for that intersection . It is a town road . Peter asked who would require a light at that location? Tom said no one W it is common sense . ** Paul made a motion to request Grey Taylor study any of the requirements to deal with the intersection of Old Barnstable Rd and Rte 151 for necessary widening or traffic light because of the high school ( and copy the letter to the Selectmen) .
