Are there any value added recommendations?
Bob suggested SMMA meet with Paul and develop a list that will be
acceptable to the Committee.
APPOINTMENT OF TAVARES DESIGN ASSOCIATES
** Merry Sue made a motion to recommend Tavaras Design Consultants as
the furniture, fittings and equipment subconsultant, with
conditions as stated in his contract. Janice seconded the motion .
Paul said he spoke with Mr . Tavaras again about the technology issue. He
agreed it is out of his scope but he could get someone if the Committee
requested . He would be willing to work with the Committee to outline the
areas of "gap" . Merry Sue agreed it is beneficial for him to come to next
week ' s meeting . He needs to listen to the Committee, since there are no
teachers, to find out what we are thinking. The more he listens the better
prepared he will be.
* All members were in favor 6-0 . **
The Committee will send their recommendation to the Selectmen and ask them
to approve Mr. Tavaras as FF & E subconsultants. The funds will come out
of the FF &E budget.
Merry Sue told the Committee the Selectmen have approved spending up to
$3 , 000 for the furniture subcommittee to go to the conference in New
Orleans.
LAND ACQUISITION AND COM ELECTRIC EASEMENT
Dan Solien said the Comelectric easement runs through a portion of the Nye
property and the Cornish property . Comelectric has asked the town to
provide them with a .deed of the easement but the Town ' s title work did not
show any easement. Comelectric has no evidence of an easement.
Dan said at this pint, BSS can do a complete title search for the easement.
Paul said one has already been done .
Town Counsel should discuss with ComElectric' s counsel abandoning of the
easement. Paul will talk with Town Counsel .
Bob said the letter form the archaeologists note the evidence of "ways" on
the property.
Paul said the ways go from our parcel to the State land so no one can claim
their access has been blocked .
Dan said he discussed with Tom Fudala the need to abandon public rights to
these road but Tom does not feel it is necessary .
Land Acquisition Plan : Dan showed a rectangular section of property,
between the Fields Point and Cornish properties, going east to the Quashnet
River, that the deed describes as Nye property, not Fields Point as
originally presented .
Paul said if that is correct it would open a big can of worms with the land
acquisition negotiations . The offer the town made was based on certain
use of the land and if that is not correct, things will change.
Dan said the land surveyor will do a more complete title search but at this
point he would call that piece Nye Property. Fields Point has not agreed
it is Nye property.
Their land surveyor found a number of discrepancies from the BSC work,
8
