Dr. DeMoura said for some items , the more you order the better price you
get so the total quantity should be ordered .
Paul said if we don ' t have enough money for all the items in the F& E
budget, we will have to trade off one thing for another.
Dr. DeMoura said if we don ' t purchase equipment with the bond, the school
department will never get it.
Janice said there are basic things we have to have , for example the
building has to be wired but we don' t have to buy 5 computers for every
classroom. At first the library , auditorium, technology rooms and office
has to be outfitted. The area we cannot skimp on is the wiring or network.
Mike Pietrowski presented his suggestions and recommendations.
He would like to see a TV monitor in every room with remote control for
video. It should be connected to the fire alarm.
For the TV studio, he would like the room cut in half , with a door and a
window dividing it . The majority of time the studio will be the auditorium
because the lighting is there and it is not used 75% of the time.
The other half of the room will have the racks for the Vcr - 20 units.
There should be 25 channels : 20 units , 2 live and 2 satellite.
He suggests having the high school run the entire school system and then it
would need 40 channels.
He would like wireless microphones which might even be cheaper.
The video projection unit in the auditorium should be able to be lowered
from the ceiling to project to the screen .
Gym: he would like to see crows nest ( balcony) in the corners to put video
cameras when taping events. This is for security of the equipment.
There should be a press box, near the score board , with audio control .
Sound system, with feedback into the TV control room and process it back
out.
Merry Sue suggested the small gym doesn't need any sound system.
Mike asked what if 2 events are scheduled at the same time?
The Committee agreed the smaller gym doesn' t need anything.
He asked if there is a press box at the ballfields? He suggested the
Committee look into it. There needs to be a control system for sound for
outdoor events , like football games and graduation.
Cafeteria: he would like a 6 channel wireless sytem. Something is needed
for small town meetings that may be held there.
Equipment that is needed : overhead projector, CD player, audio cassette
units , slide projectors.
Mr. Tavares said dividing the TV studio is a concern, it makes the space
very small .
Mike said moving it to the auditorium give more flexibility . The
scheduling can be worked out. He saw it done that way at Beverly Hills
high school .
In the long term, he would like to tie in the other 2 schools and make this
the central point.
Dr. DeMoura suggested asking a representative from AT &T to come to a
5
