9 <br /> Community Preservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> December 14, 2017 <br /> Housing Assistance Corporation, Laura R_eckford—Cape Housing Institute; (continued) <br /> It was noted the definition of support provides grants, loans, rental assistance and other forms of <br /> assistance that would directly benefit individuals and families who are eligible for community <br /> housing or to an entity that operates or manages such housing for the purpose of making <br /> affordable housing. This is a workshop series beneficial to municipal officials and staff to gain <br /> knowledge and skills to develop a comprehensive housing supply strategy. <br /> The budget includes sponsorship from other Cape communities as well as sponsorship monies. <br /> In phase two, eight persons would be employed. Salaries comprise of 50% of this budget. <br /> It is evident the phase I program was significant. The Mashpee Public Library served as the <br /> meeting venue for the Upper Cape. Representing the Town of Mashpee was a member from the <br /> Board of Selectmen, Planning Board/CPC, and a representative from the Affordable Housing <br /> Committee. These individuals have been trained to provide assistance to the Town in terms of <br /> affordable housing. <br /> It was noted if funding was to be received,the Town of Mashpee would be considered as the <br /> Upper Cape site for classes if space is available. Numerous outreaches are also being planned to <br /> announce this program. <br /> Motion made by Mr. Harsch to approve and recommend to the May 2018 Special Town <br /> Meeting, the application of the Housing Assistance Corporation to support the Cape <br /> Housing Institute in Year 2, an award of$5,000 with funding to derive from the CPA 10% <br /> Affordable/Community Housing Reserves. <br /> Motion seconded by Ms. Waygan. <br /> VOTE: 3-6.
