With the Selectmen's approval to
submit the grant application to SHRAB, Town Manager Rodney C. Collins would be the
authorized signatory on behalf of the Town of Mashpee.
Members of the Community Preservation Committee agreed this is an important piece of the
Mashpee community and it is important to hold hearings and to gain input from the public. The
Town of Mashpee has no rich history and has the right to be acknowledged for its rich history.
Motion made by Mrs. Sherman to approve and recommend to the May 201$ Special Town
Meeting, the application of the Mashpee American Revolutionary War Memorial project
Phase 1 in the amount of$32,500; $15,000 for the Memorial and $17,500 for Landscape
Architectural services. Ms. Reckford was not in attendance as she was obligated to attend the HAC Shelter
Cape Cod Telethon this evening.
In considering the $15,000 project to support the second year of the Cape Housing Institute, the
CPC indicated under allowable CPA spending, the project does not create affordable housing.
Although a seminar was held in the Town of Mashpee, and over 120 persons were registered in
the first year of the Institute program at four different locations, the project was not deemed a
permissible CPA expenditure. The project does not fall under the categories relative to
acquisition, creation, preservation, support and rehabilitation and restoration.
