Many items the subcommittee looked at at the conference in New Orleans but office furniture was not part of the convention so they went to the Boston design center recently to look at the different manufacturers of office furniture . The budget for group 2 , furniture and equipment seems to be in line with the budget of $650 , 000 presented in February. Group 3 teaching aids , Mr.Williams is preparing a list of items needed for each category. Without a staff it is a very time consuming process . They looked at existing equipment at the Middle School . There are 70 chair/desk units that are the same as those proposed for the science lab and would not have an appropriate use at the middle school . Dr. DeMoura will ask the Committee to consider specifying the replacement units for the middle school . Manny says it is of equal value . At the Middle school the existing wood shop equipment is the same as that proposed for the High School . Manny also looked at this equipment , it is basic equipment and still sufficient . It represents a considerable savings . Paul asked Manny to look into any safety upgrades required for that equipment and ask Delta (manufacturer) for retro fit kits for it . Merry Sue suggested they have someone from Delta come in and service all the equipment. Peter asked if they can also use the equipment from the home ec room? Manny said that was specified under the general contract so the town already owns it . Paul explained to Manny that the Committee discussed adding a clause to the bidding documents discussing the potential delay of delivery and asking the bidders for an add alternate for storage of furniture and equipment for 30 and 60 days . Manny said his suggestion is to not approach it in that manner. Typically, in the specs , he says that all schedules are subject to the construction schedule and the vendors will be notified an X number of days prior to the delivery date. He feels this approach is better than leaving yourself open for extras . Everyone agreed. Paul said he spoke with the Building Inspector who does not want anyone in the building who is non construction related until the Certificate of Occupancy has been issued. He did not specifically discuss furniture delivery with him, Paul will have to bring that up with him. Paul asked Manny to prepare a list on the status of all group 2 and 3 items . Manny already had such a list for group 2 and gave one to Paul and will prepare a similar one for group 3 . Peter asked how we were doing relative to the FF &E budget? Manny said group 2 is on budget . There will be some changes but he does not expect it to stray far from the $2 . 5 million. budgeted. 3
