r
i
technology estimate,.
Paul told Phil the committee has been asking for how John Childs derived
these numbers . He must have used some assumptions i e, # of units x cost
The Committee needs to know how he derived this , it would help them get a
better understanding of ,this budget O
Phil said they will get an additional breakdown .
Steve asked about the wiring issue.
Tom wren has 2 memos from SMMA:
- the CCTV cabling , conduit and wiring is in the construction budget .
Cameras and coaxial are in the F F&E.
- Theater Lighting . conduit and wiring are in the construction budget.
Light fixtures , cleaners and light control equipment are in FF&E .
Phil said these memos are in response to the questions he heard .
Steve said it appears that every drop of technology wiring is in FF&E?
Phil said the memo does not address that question ,
Steve said if that is the case, something is out of kilter . l 61 , 000 i s
more than enough for all of the wiring .
Mike P i et rowsk i does not see how coaxial cable can fall into the FF&E
budget. It is port of the building , in his opinion , it should not be taken
out of F F&E , it is part of the building .
Paul said it is all part of the bid package, the question i s out of which
pot it will be taken . It makes a difference only in relationship to SMMA' s
contract. what purpose will this discussion solve
Steve asked if i t is in the base contract or in F F&E?
Phil said it is in the base contract.
Steve said this is a question he has been asking , a major portion of the
wiring is installed with the rest of the building and should be 'n the
construction budget not FF&E .
Paul said it is in the construction documents, it relates only to how you
do the estimate.
Phil said there is a sub sub contractor under electrical for wiring . The
sub has to be identified by name and amount,.
Peter said they can debate the estimate but that i s in the past.
Steve said he was lead to believe the issue was well understood .
Paul said he thought it was understood when they interviewed the technology
vendors" that technology was not in the base contract. It is MMA ' s
position that they will supply the conduits and provide the raceways for
technology . The technology would go out as a separate contract later , as
part of FF&E . The Committee previously talked about the method to put the
wiring into the bu i l d i ng . Mike Pare disagreed i t should be pant of the
base bid , he wanted it to be a separate item. He wanted a total separate
contractor - it was a quality argument . He did not - want electrical
contractors Pulling wires .
Steve said it is his opinion that FF&E leaked very badly .
Paul said the original budget put $2 . 7 million aside for FF&E. Manny
Tavares told the committee that was not even close to enough . He does not
know how LFA derived that number. The committee had received a l page
criteria of what should be in the building from the Superintendent. How
that criteria got changed , he does not know.
2
