Construction Progress/Furniture Delive ( continued) page 3
Stone is supposed to notify us that the furniture can be put in
the classrooms on August 12th and also have the job finished by
August 12th; any delay beyond that date is Stone ' s fault on both
these issues . Upon question if the furniture can be placed in
the classrooms if some work remains to be finished, Paul said
they will have to wait until the 12th. He explained that if the
building is not substantially completed, we would have to check
with all the parties to determine what liability falls on either
side to do it . . . this would require a lot of work. Again,
Paul said he sees no problem with the classroom furniture at this
time.
Regarding the .fields , Paul said the irrigation is going in; after
that, some remedial work can begin. The fields will not be
finished for the season. He explained there is still some
question about what remedial work will have to be done; a long
list of items to be done in the Spring was issued but not done by
the contractor; some agreement has been arranged with Holden
Farms; they are now supposed to be back working. Tom informed
that they are not doing the shrubbery work; some have been
delivered; there are trees towards the Sewage Treatment Plant
that they were told to water almost every day. Paul explained
that the contractor must keep the trees alive for one year; if
they are put in and do not make: it, the contractor will have to
replace them . . . despite what the spec says . We should not
have to worry about this issue; we will simply have to deal with
it. Regarding Holden Farms , Paul feels that at the least,
re-seeding will have to be done. He explained that there is some
question whether the re-seeding will take or whether they will
have to dig it up and do it again.
3(a ) Furniture & Equipment. Summary by TDA
Deliver Schedule : Manny informed that the 5 truck deliveries
from the major furniture contractor have been scheduled for
August 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 and 16 . . . one a day. Manny verified
that the deliveries are a turnkey deal; they include unpacking
the furniture, setting it in place, and taking away their trash.
Manny informed that there will be classroom furniture for other
areas of the building, such as art and music , where there is not
enough room. This furniture will have to be put in areas that
are available; these areas will have to be identified.
Regarding other furniture vendors, Manny informed that the
cafeteria furniture is being shipped next ,reek from Minnesota;
arrival date perhaps the same time-frame as the classroom
furniture. Paul recommended that Manny start making some
provisions for that furniture; to bring items into the building
prematurely may be an issue with this particular job; he prefers
that we do not enter into any dispute with the contractor.
Manny pointed out that the furniture rolls and folds and is easy
to deal with in terms of storage. Short. discussion followed
regarding the specifications.
