Technology Summary/CCR ( continued) page 6
Upon question from Paul , Michael informed that he did have a
discussion with Stephen because he would not be at this meeting.
He was comfortable with our discussion, especially in regard to
the Network Equipment/Software items .
Paul referred to page 2 ,item #1 , computers ( for students ) .
Discussion followed. Paul asked how many will be purchased for
Phase I ; Michael informed that we need to be through with our
spending exercise within 9 months . The numbers we are coming up
with are about 80% . Paul recommended that John look at this one
item to see what he can get by with; you do not want this
computer to be obsolete in 4 years; you will get another year
based on this bonding item. John said he would shoot for 60% ;
Michael said they could work together on this issue.
Paul referred to page 2 , item #2 , computers (for teachers) ; also
item #3 , monitors (for teachers ) . He noticed that the monitor is
broken off from the cpu and the price went from $2 , 500 for the
completed unit to almost $2 , 900 ; he questioned the difference.
Michael explained that the Presario is a molded unit and will not
fit in the teacher ' s cabinet; we feel this is a wise way to go
because the teacher ' s is three pieces and fits correctly in the
teacher ' s cabinet; the molded unit is cheaper because of a
marketing decision . . . the Microsoft Compaq is in direct
competition with the Apple school market to create havoc.
(Steve Greelish joined the meeting)
Steve questioned the basis of the computer pricing; Michael
informed it is the Compaq ' s Government List . . . it is not
the State List. Discussion then followed regarding purchasing in
volume either in or out of state. Michael assured that these are
the best Government prices out there; he gave lengthy
explanation and can provide backup data. He informed that this
is what we have talked about all along. Steve expressed concern
that Michael ' s prices on various items may be old; he has
up-to-date pricing. Michael informed that he has just received a
new set of pricing this morning; he has not had a chance to
review it. Prior to cutting the order, we will have the current
part numbers ; they are now being loaded into the processor .
Paul referred to page 2 , item #4 , CIC Delivery and Installation;
he questioned the $75 charge for each of the 410 units . Michael
explained that the charge covers delivery, unpacking, assembly,
connection, loading the software, logging on, demonstrating
functionality of certain items , and removal of their trash from
the site.
Upon question why item #10 . 3 and item #11 . 2 are listed
separately, both are the same item (14" color monitor ) , Michael
explained that it is a logic issue for CCR; there are 15 to 20
pages of data identical to Manny ' s that are used to track certain
separate programs .
