Paul said Stone did not do it , They were asked to do it They knew we were
running tests .
He explained , after cleaning ) they will re-test every roomin. the building ,
o of the rooms were previously' tested. Those cultures will take to days
to grow and the remedial work must be done first.
If after that there are rooms with. high counts , it could be an interior
wall problem.
Peter said that is the worst case . we should have a, plan for that . what
will it take to mobilize the trailers?
Dr. DeMoura said he will have to talk to the School Comm.ttee about this
but the students and faculty are settled 'in where they are . He doesn' t
know i f we should disrupt them again to move to trailers .
Paul said they may need only some trailers , for breathing room.
Dr. DeMoura agreed that they won' t be able to do lunch under the tents much
Longer .
He reminded the Committee that substitute teachers are costing $400 . per
da.y to cover the time when teachers are going between schools .
Paul. explained there is a joint meeting tomorrow at 6 : 30 with the Selectmen
and school committee and the Building Committee should be there.
John Williams said the staff and students have responded well so far to the
school not opening but he said you will see spirits drop, him included, if
this goes on much longer.
Paul said under normal circumstances a, contractor would rectify any problem
quickly but stone ' s prior history is they don ' t do that . we don' t know how
Stone will react to this.
He said town counsel will be spewing with, the bonding company and doing
research. He understands we need this building . He will be making a.
recommendation to the committee .
Peter said the damage clock stops if and when we don' t make a good faith
effort to occupy the building .
Worn said as of today the issue vests solely on the air quality issue . we
have to be sure the tests will stand up}
Paul ' s concerns is there are no state or Federal regulations dealing with
this type of contamination. That is why town counsel needs to do research.
Peter asked if sMMA as issued substantial completion certificate?
Paul said not In their letter of last geek there were 7 items that needed
to be completed. The remaining 2 were addressed today#
Joel said the last issue is the air quality.
Peter said of course the health of the students come first before financial
issues . If this hadn' t happened today, all the pieces would be in order to
pen the building .
Peter asked how the test results compared to background levels , outside
Paul said there was no comparison) outside was lower than inside .
Dr . DeMoura said the classroom are not as clean as they should be . He has
need to bring people in to do basic cleaning and he shouldn' t have to do
that , Should he have the building Committee approve that additional cost
first . Should they be cleaning?
Paul suggested they do not clean the building now. He will notify Dr.
4
