• k
Deoura. on a. day to day basis .
Paul said the other problem is when will Stone complete the remainder of
the building . Their answer was they have no idea. He then had a. discussion
with David Patrick, president of stone who had not better answers .
Paul explained that over labor day weekend, Stone had to rip out the wall
at stairway 5 because the wallboard behind it was rotten, from molds
Peter said w don' t know if we have that type of problem elsewhere in the
building .
Paul said only 4 samples carne back with high levels .
He said this two week delay has allowed everyone to complete the pun hl.ist
and filter out the bugs that plague a new building .
Janice said there has been a very positive attitude by town people
involved.. This has taken over Hill Hauck' s time and energy.
Road I mprov me nts i: Pa.ul ' spoke with NY EX field Supervisor F All of the
Islands and. Falmouth come through here (Old Barnstable Rd. ) All of their
manpower is dealing with service outages due to the storm. They hope to
have it complete by sept 18th.
Tom said Grog Taylor is not happy with t he location of the fire hydrant
What about the balance of Landers ) contract?
Tom said they are working on i t . The equipment i s out there and they are
moving along
Status of the fields?
Jim said they are presently working on the irrigation system, daily
Dan Solien does not recommend ripping up the fields , they should be
reseeded.
Tom Hamilton from Oocuhe alth joined the meeting . He explained that
occuhea.lth tested for VOCs , fungi , endotoxins on August 22 , 26 and 27 as
areas of the building were released to thea*
The data. that Paul was speaking of earlier in the meeting gust came in last
night , Mr. Hamilton received it verbally from the lab.
Two rooms had an amplification of fungi '.n and two other rooms had above
normal levels but not an amplification. 2 rooms had levels 2 times higher
than outdoors ( in areas B and E, f i rst f loor) .
Endotoxins was above normal , high.
The endotoxin sample from Ba first floor was a. protein given off by
bacteria. It can be airborne and it can cause respiratory reactions in
those susceptible .
He asked the lab how that could be in a room with a normal bacteria level .
There are 2 reasons : the sample was contaminated or you do have endotoxins
in the air but the bacteria level in the room at the sampling time was low.
It suggests re-sampling .
They sampled 5 of the rooms in A,D & E. Only 2 had high fungi .
Mr. Hamilton said he has been trying to draw conclusions from the data,.
There could be as many as 8 rooms in the school with the same problem.
Do we occupy those rooms in those areas , first floor H and E?
An option is not to use those areas but occupy the rest and clean those up.
Another option is to close all of the school because 8 rooms is too much.
5
