Develop a common understanding of what it means to be a Professional Learning
Community with a focus on collaboration, learning, and results. Identify the work
that needs to be done at all grade levels in all content areas to answer the following
questions: What do we want our students to know and be able to do? How will we
know that they have learned what we want them to learn at a high level of mastery?
What do we do for those students who have not yet mastered the learning
standards? What do we do for those students who have already mastered the
learning standards?
2. Develop effective data teams at all levels to systematically analyze assessment
results and use the results to make curriculum, instruction, and program decisions.
Provide support in the form of professional development to develop team expertise
on the analysis and use of data.
3. Use additional standardized assessments to supplement MCAS. In addition, explore
the use of technology to develop, correct, and analyze the results of common
benchmark assessments across the grade levels.Use the results of the benchmark
assessments to determine if students have developed a level of mastery of those
outcomes that students should know and be able to do at the end of a grade level or
course.
11
