Page 5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> October 15, 1995 <br /> CD12jMCATTONSAND CQRRESPONDENCE. <br /> Letter from United States Fish and Wildlife Service:- <br /> Communication was received from Kathleen Cox on behalf of the <br /> U.S.Fish and Wildlife Service dated September 29, 1995 commending <br /> the Board of Selectmen and Mrs. Joyce Mason for their contributions <br /> towards to the donation of the 54.25 acres of Town land to the Mashpee <br /> Refuge., <br /> Wildlife Refu P <br /> Selectman Vaccaro commended Mr.Whritenour and Selectman Costa <br /> for their contributions towards establishing the Wildlife Refuge. <br /> It was noted that the U.S.Fish and Wildlife Service is workingdiligently <br /> g Y <br /> to sign the deed prior to the end of their fiscal year to request a transfer of <br /> funds up to$500,000 for expenditure at the Refuge. <br /> 125th Anniversary Activities: <br /> Selectman Vaccaro indicated that he would like to publicly thank those <br /> who participated in the 125th Anniversary Community Dance last Saturday <br /> The Mount Rushmore Flag Procession will be the last major event of the <br /> 125th Anniversary announced Selectman Vaccaro. <br /> Saturday, October 21, 1995 - Middle and Coombs School grounds. <br /> APPOEITMENTS AND BEARINGS: <br /> Jane Coogan - Rotary: <br /> Beautification Council members,Jane Coogan and Steven Van Tol were <br /> present to discuss the rotary beautification project with the Board of <br /> Selectmen. <br /> Ms. Coogan indicated that the State funding will provide the initial <br /> landscape for an estimated sum of$150,000. In addition,the State <br /> Highway Department has committed to maintain the rotary for one year <br /> after the initial landscape has been completed. <br /> After this time,the Town of Mashpee must commit to follow-up <br /> maintenance and improvements to the rotary informed Ms. Coogan. <br /> Mr.Van Tol submitted an architectural rending of the rotary for the <br /> Board's review. It was noted that the Beautification Council and State <br /> Highway Department have approved the landscape pian to form. <br />
