BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES JANUARY 10f 1995 I PAGE THREE V BUSINESS FROM PREVIOUS MEETINGS : (Continued)' C, Update on Bookdrop: Helene reported that she had done a preliminary count of the capacity of the book drop that the library presently has and her conclusion was that 50 to 60 gems pretty much fill it up. Therefore, in Helene ' opinion, it is totally inadequate. Because of the amount involved, a purchase order from the executive secretary would have to be prepared, The library personnel will select the bookdrop that will meet their reeds and ask for Bob Writenour' s approval. VI NEW BUSINESS : A. CLAMS Upgrade: Helene explained that the computer system went down on 12/31/94 so that CLAMS could run reports There was one Saturday of recording transactions by hand. It was ars extremely busy day. The library was closed on Monday for the holiday and Tuesday was a wild day. Wed- nesday an item had appeared in the paper apprising the readers of the situation, and business noticeably dropped off when the patrons realized they would have a fine-free week. Wednesday and Thursday were manageable. The system cane up briefly Thursday evening and was up while they were circulating on Saturday. Discharging and charging were done on Monday and Helene was very impressed with how s ►ooth- ly it went. The public was very understanding about the fact that it was a temporary inconvenience. Helene stated that she was glad it was over, but it went better than she had anticipated. B. carpet in Chi ldrens ' Room: Helene stated that a patron had called to her attention that in the story-telling pit, the carpet was peeling up from the back of the steps. The car- peting arpet.ing had been pulled up in order to have the termite treat- ment. The carpet had started to unravel from little fingers picking at it, and there was not enough carpet over the tack strips. There is additional carpeting in the attic. As a temporary solution, Helene had taped down the carpet. Helene has spoken to Ray Martini and asked if he could get some information about a carpet installer. Ce Meeting Dates for February through May 1995 : Due to a change in 0. Robertson' s schedule, it will be necessary to change the meeting days from Tuesday to 'Thursday evenings for a couple of months , New meeting schedules were passed out t the trustees.
