Were there any great changes.
.
Mr, Taylor stated than his budget was only 2 1/2% greater than last
year with a couple of exceptions. He also mentioned that he
returned $25,000 to the General Fund last year. Mr. Taylor is
king for $332 , 000 for operating expenses, On the labor side he
is asking $515, 399 which includes 2 new people, one is a heavy
equipment operator ($27 ,,809) and the other is a truck diver
($24,731) . Mr*. Golub asked if these additional people would reduce
response time and make the Department more productive? Mr. Taylor
responded yes. Mr Golub asked if pant time assistants or agency
help could be a possibility? Mr. Taylor answered than he has not
thought of that, but that it could be a possibility. They do
get called for donned trees, accidents and trouble at their
buildings at all hours. Mr. Goggin asked his capital needs? Mr.
Taylor answered that the Department is looking to replace its
equipment every seven years .
Conservation Department
Bob Sherman and Nonnie Ferriday were present at the meeting to
discuss conservation's budget. Mr. Sherman gave a brief summary of
what is expected of his Department and what his Department does.
He explained that the Conservation Commission is directed by a
State Wetland's Protection Act and by Mhpee' own y--Laws. This position, assistant agent, has been occupied
since July. Mr. Sherman also brought to the Committee's attention
that an employee, Ms. o'hara is paid out of Conservation Reserve
Receipts.
Mr, Sherman stated that he met with the Town Accountant prior to
this meeting to discuss issues involving cranberry receipts.
He also mentioned that there was a change to page 3 of their
budget.
