n -r <br /> Open Position <br /> Chairman Abbott indicated that there had been discussion regarding Nfichelle Toby's.interest in <br /> joining the Affordable Housing Committee and that Ms. Mason was in agreement to allocate a <br /> position on the Committee to a member of the +vampanoag"gibe. Although there had been <br /> discussion requiring that Committee members be residents of Mashpee, it has since been <br /> clarified that other Mashpee Committee members were not full-time residents of the Town. Ms. <br /> Toby indicated that she had been in contact with the Tribal Administrator regarding their <br /> involvement and membership on the Committee, rather than Ms. Toby, and the importance of <br /> both parties being informed about affordable housing availability in Mashpee. Ms. Toby <br /> suggested the possibility that the Tribal Administrator appoint a member to attend the next AHC <br /> meeting. The Tribal Administrator would also be speaking with the interim TribalHousing <br /> Director. Should a member not yet be identified in time for the next meeting, M .'Toby stated <br /> that she would attend on behalf of the Tribe. <br /> Status of ongoing Projects <br /> Mashpee Commons-It was reported that ground had been,broken for the first phase of <br /> development which would not yet include residential units. The secorfd building constructed <br /> would involve 50 residential units, 12-15 of which would be affordable rentals, and was expected <br /> to be completed before the end of 2014. <br /> Habitat for Hu'nanit -Mr. Johnson indicated that Habitat for Humanity was the only <br /> application received for the RFP to develop old orchard Road and Strawberry Avenue. Mr. <br /> Johnson announced that 16 houses had been built by Habitat in Mashpee and expressed Habitat's <br /> appreciation for Mashpee's efforts and cooperation. Chairman Abbott suggested the possibility <br /> of recommending additional parcels to the October Town Meeting and there was agreement <br /> among Committee members, Selectman Richardson agreed. Construction at Park Place was <br /> being completed. <br /> Great Cove-The Chair indicated that the 10 units located behind Breezy Acres were <br /> almost completed. <br /> The Bridges=The Chair announced that 6 units at the assisted living memory facility <br /> would be considered affordable. M . gloff recommended inviting a representative to spew to <br /> the AHC at a future meeting. Review by the Cape Cod Commission had been.completed. <br /> wampanoag Development-Selectman Richardson indicated that inspections had been <br /> taking place and the Chair indicated that 5.0 affordable a housing units were anticipated. <br /> Wampanoag Presentation <br /> Chairman Abbott reported that he offered to present affordable housing in Mashpee and goals of <br /> the Affordable Housing Committee to groups throughout town, including the Tribe. Ms. Toby <br /> responded that she would extend the invitation to the Dousing Commissioners. Mr. Isbit <br /> indicated an interest in being involved as well as Selectman Richardson. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> HONM Consortium Meeting <br /> �&. Isbitz attended the November 21 meeting which included presentations about cost controls <br /> and dramatic increases incurred by those developing affordable housing. Specifically, Habitat <br /> for Humanity had been able to build for less than$100,00o before 2000, but homes were now <br /> being constructed for well over$100,000. Increases have been attributed to <br /> 2 <br />
