Lopez. Ms. Stone.noted that she also advocates with HUD so may be able to share information
regarding public housing funds. The Chair inquired about the status on the Tribe's housing and
Ms. Stone responded that the first layer of goads had been constructed and funding decisions
were being made. IVs. Stone confirmed that the first hones to be built would be specifically for
the elders and she indicated there was-no turtle issue on the parcel. The Conrnlitte introduced
themselves to Ms. Stone. Ms. Ston6 also noted that her mother, Carol Lopez, was also a Housing
Commissioner and may attend future Cottee meetings.
209 Old Barnstable Road
Selectman Richardson stated that Horsley Witten reported to the Board of Selectmen that, after
reviewing 209 Old Barnstable Road, they were concerned about the size of the number of wits.
In addition, concerns such as school bus ramp access as well as whether there would be
opportunity from a developer's perspective had been expressed. The Chair inquired why the
information had not been included in the feasibility study. Selectman Richardson responded that
he thought it was ars opportunity to do the study and generate revenue through the study, noting
that the BOS had a long discussion with the consultants. If they were to be faked with
-restrictions, it was thought that perhaps the Town would want to be more aggressive, so the
Selectmen contacted Town Manager Joyce Mason regarding usage of another parcel. Horsley
Witten indicated that the combining of parcels may be attractive to more developers of
lar erl rojet. Selectman Richardson also noted that Leila Botsford suggested that it would e
challenging to identify a developer for projects less than 50 units. The Chair indicated that he
felt that was not correct. Selectman Richardson stated that more than 24 units would likely
attract more interest, and 209 Barnstable could not accommodate the larger number of wits, but
that 90 Falmouth Road, previously considered by the Committee, may offer more opportunity.
Selectman Richardson indicated that there was not a lot of land available and noted the Town's
efforts to sell smaller parcels of land to generate revenue, which had been rejected by the voters.-
Selectman Richardson suggested that if the laud could not be sold, it may be beneficial to male it
available to affordable housing. Ms. Egloff inquired whether Horsley Witten suggested that an
RFP should be generated for 209 Old Barnstable or only in conjunction with another parcel.
Selectman Richardson confmned that they recomr aended that the parcels be combined for one
kFP. The Board of Selectman formed a Housing Committee to consider the issue. Ms. Egloff
inquired about the timeframe and Selectman Richardson noted that the issue had been added to
last night's agenda. Mr. Johnson inquired about the Land Use Group and Selectman Richardson
indicated that the group had met to identify parcels for Habitat for Humanity. The Chair
expressed concern that funds would now be needed to develop an RFS' for a feasibility study for
950 Falmouth Road, i acting the timeline. Selectman Richardson indicated that hc.would
follow up with Ms. Mason and Selectman Taylor to discuss moving forward on 950 Falmouth
and indicated that the Committee could continue to pursue 280 Old Barnstable. Mr. Johnson
responded that the Committee had gone as far as it could with the parcel. Selectman Richardson
indicated that he wouldinform the Committee o what would be available. Mr. Johnson ure l
whether 209 old Barnstable could be used as a conservation swap in exchange for development
t 950 Falmouth. Selectman Richardson suggested that the Committee discuss how they wished
top roceed, possibly pursuing a larger project. The Chair stated that other Cape towns had
projects with 20 or so units, and was unaware of any towns with larger projects.
