Community Preservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> April 2 , 2013 <br /> CPA Application—Outdoor Basketball Court at Boys GWs.Club <br /> P. licant: Bon iGirls Club C o <br /> Ruth Provost was before the CPC Committee to request funding to improve the <br /> outside basketball court at the Boys& girls Club in Mashpec. The$17,,800 <br /> project would allow for the leveling and re-paving of the court which would <br /> include the replacement of the backboards and to outside lights that allow for <br /> night use. <br /> Details relative to the project propose were outlined in the CPA application. It <br /> was noted the tom project dost is$22,800. Insurance reimbursement will fund <br /> the replacement of one light, and the Boys & Girls Club intends to contribute <br /> 1000 towards the cost of funding the project. <br /> Ms. Provost indicated the Club served 639 Mashpee children and teens, . <br /> approximately 37%of the 1 ashpee school population last year. When the <br /> outside basketball courts are not used by the Boys& Girls Club during normal <br /> hours,they are open to the public. <br /> If repairs are not made,the court Will deteriorate, and they will not be available <br /> for public use. <br /> I iscussion followed regarding the benefits of the Boys& Girls Club, and the <br /> value of programs provided by the Club. <br /> CPA A atipn;HVAC.S ten apt the Born.& Girls Club <br /> A► licant: 13ovs&Girls Club of Cgpe.Cod: <br /> A project to replace t .e failing HVAC units at the Boys&Girls Club was <br /> presented by Ruth Provost to the C.PC Committee for funding consideration at the <br /> October 2013 Town Meeting. The HVAC units provide heating and cooling in <br /> the gymnasium and building to the public for recreational use,. <br /> The CPA funding request is$21,000. The Boys& Girls Club and the vendor will <br /> assume the additional casts related to the $28,900 project. It was explained the <br /> HVAC system has had ongoing issues. The roof is now leaking from the failing <br /> units and replacement of the units requires a crane for removal and installation. <br /> Ken Bates, a former member of the Board of Directors indicated the Club has <br /> been maintained in excellent condition. In highest regard for Ms. Provost, 11r. <br /> Bates added that she has been very resourceful during her tenure. It was <br /> recommended the CPC members tour the facility at any time to review site <br /> conditions and to see the respect the children have for the Club. <br />
