review t hem and no response as yet .
Mr . Hanks advised there was discussion whether or not the
Town had adopted the State Harbormaster laws . This was
resolved as in the law there is a comment that states it has
to be ratified by the Town . It has been pint in and has gone
forward to Counsel, to determine if it is legally required .
Dr . Gordon advised- all the articles have been put in .
Mr . Ho eyer stated members should research all the articles
and be prepared to give a strong presentation on Town feetin
floor . Dr . Gordon stated members should attend .
Dr . Gordon summarized the articles submitted: A full-time
harbormaster effective July neva Pickup truc ; transfer
of $20 ,000 to Waterways Maintenance Account; Harbormaster
status; Chapter 170 changes , and a higher speed channel in
oc way Bay .
The money in the maintenance account has been used mainly to
buy buoys and it is proposed to use the second $20 ,000 to buy
buoys and some other safety related items but before it can
be spent , i t rust be transferred . This money comes from the
boat excise tax ; half goes to this fund and the other half to
the torn coffers . This money can only be used with the
permission of the Selectmen .
Mr . Homeye r advised the transferred funds have to be used
within three years or they will revert to general funds
without submission of another article to maintain them .
Dr . Gordon advised one of his major r goals , as chairman , was
to get all of the equipment up to snuff . Where are now three
decent boats , at least one decent outboard , one so-so
outboard , the other so-so minus , and the wreck of a wort boat
but that prevents abuse of the good boats . The floating
arsenal ].s in pretty good shape . The main item needed is a
new pickup truck and the other is to get the rest of the
buoys modernized .
Changes were also requested to Chapter 170 of the Mashpee
code to say "Slow - No Wake rather than 6 MPH No Wake " . The
second part is to see if the town will Vote to add . . ,. . . "Speed
in ocway day will be Slow - No Wake , except for a channel
designated by the Harbormaster " .
It was noted the Finance Committee , as always , is opposed t
the Commissions articles .
Y- . ordham asked ,, i-F there is a channel in oc way Say and
one passes a not her , don 't they have t o slow down-
