{ <br /> Mr. Silver asked about winter moorings, and . Mr. Ellis stated <br /> he i going to take thea out soon. Dir. Gordon proposed <br /> submitting an article for the May meeting that requires winter <br /> moorings be pulled by May 15 . Mr. Ellis stated there i.s no bar-law <br /> regarding lights and jet skis . Dr. Gordon suggested having <br /> a sub-group meet in the fall to prepare articles for town <br /> meeting. A notion was made, seconded, and unanimously in favor <br /> of having a sub committee comprised of Don Lund, Dan Homeyer, <br /> Fred Fordham, and Ferry Ellis, draft articles for the May town <br /> meeting* The first meeting of this sub-committee will be <br /> Tuesday, September 13th, at 7 : 00 p.m. at the Harbormaster office. <br /> COUNTY DREDGE STATUS: Mr. Ellis stated that he was invited <br /> by Sen Rauschenbach to a press conference where it was announced <br /> that $975 , 000 has been allotted for dredging to begin in March <br /> (when Towns get there permits in . Mr. Homeyer stated this <br /> will be good for restoring the ecological balance and that <br /> Shellfish and concom are interested parties. Dr. Gordon noted <br /> that March is not a likely scenerio since this has not yet cone <br /> out to bid. Dr. Gordon recommended getting two packages together <br /> for Popponesset and Waquoit. I amlin# s Pond, and Great River <br /> were also recommended. Mr. Danks asked about the formation <br /> f a dredge committee; it will follow. Nor-. Hanks stated that <br /> dredging permits have expired, and he is willing to look into <br /> reactivating them. Mr. Hanks asked if there is any budget for <br /> permits and en ineer.ing work, and Dr. Gordon stated it - would <br /> fall under the waterways Improvement Fund. There is a problem <br /> with Popponesset since the Spit is owned by three parties . <br /> The town will not accept the responsibility since they do not <br /> own it. Revenue from excise- taxes was discussed and the problem <br /> with enforcement and collection of taxes by the town. Motion <br /> was made, seconded, and unanimously voted to table this issue <br /> until the new computer i ,in place. <br /> INLANDWATERWAYS: A Harbormaster mooring was stolen o lb. <br /> mushroom) . Mr. Home rer reported that Santuit is quiet during <br /> the week. Mr. Ellis complimented Mr. I omeyer for getting an <br /> engine running that was inoperative. A sign stating "Slow No <br /> Wake" keeps disappearing in Mashpee Wakeby. <br /> POPPO ES ET BAY: Dr. Gordon reported busy weekend activity. <br /> Dr. Gordon recommended making a single page Mier that states <br /> Slow NO WAKE through inlet; failure to ober would result in <br /> a $50 ticket* Mr. Lund stated that he may be able to get some <br /> elastic barrels from Anastasia Brick Company to mark the Ockway <br /> Bay 50 footwide planing, channel . Planing throughout Ockway <br /> Bair continues. <br /> WA U IT BAY: It was reported there is an abundance of weed <br /> in the water. <br />
