SOUTH CAPE BEACH <br /> JUNE 259 1996 <br /> PAGE 2 <br /> III DISCUSSION of ISSUE of HUNTING: (Cont'd) <br /> It was agreed by Counsel for DEM that we� would proceed with this meeting <br /> on the issue of hunting and proceed from there. <br /> Nick indicated that he would probably submit this Legislation to the <br /> Attorney General's Office for an opinion. Whatever that opinion was <br /> would be the controlling judgment, <br /> hrn. I it ner asked ]dick Fleming, South Cape Beach Supervisor, if there <br /> had been any problems during the previous year's hunting season. Dick <br /> reported there had been no problems, no adverse incidents. <br /> hm. I irsner opened the meeting to comments from the committee: <br /> W. Woods indicated her concerns about seeing more non-hunters using the <br /> beach during the hunting season. She was concerned about the possibility <br /> f conflicts; she does not want to wait until there was an incident t <br /> delve into the question of how do you avoid the problems. Winnie recom- <br /> mended that they consider restricting either days or hours when both groups <br /> could pursue their activities without impediment from the other users. She <br /> suggested it may be wise to pick two days in the middle of the 'week for non- <br /> hunting activities. <br /> hm. Kirsner frilly agreed with Ms. Moods re the potential conflict which <br /> night develop. However, he would not be in favor of scheduling days or <br /> 4 <br /> hours as recommended by Ms. Woods. <br /> 4 <br /> Discussion of W. Woods' recommendation followed. <br /> J. Monaghan's opinion was than the hunters tended to police their own, <br /> and they did a good job of it; no incidents <br /> J. Monaghan recommended that the committee approve the practice of hunting <br /> on. South Cape Beach as in previous years, with the same regulations. <br /> r <br /> The question of hunting on South Cape Beach for the 1996/97 season was <br /> put to a vote; <br /> In favor of hunting: <br /> 4 <br /> Opposed <br /> A tie vote. <br /> k Morris explained that he had received, in writing, a Proxy vote from John <br /> Cramer who,was unable to attend the meeting, Mr. Cramer indicated that he <br /> was 'yin favor of hunting on South Cape Beach property in the absence of <br /> any unforeseen circumstances for the 1996/97 season." <br /> hm. Iir ner explained that he could not vote Mr. Cramer's proxy. <br />
