South Cape Beach State Park Advisory Committee 2
Minutes
January 4, 2005
III DISCUSSION OF STATUS of 10 ACRE SITE (Continued) :
Jack Cramer explained. that he had spoken with Pegg.i Konner,
Matthew Patrick ' s Legal Aide once, and had made some notes,
but when it carne to prepare for the January 4 , 2005 meeting
he stated that he was not really confident that e fully::,unerstoo
what she had explained the Legislator's position was on this
bill. Tack Cramer attempted to call Peggi Konner back, and
Matt Patrick answered the phone. Therefore, Jack asked what
was going on with this; what do we have to ego to get the bill
passed?
Rep. Patrick has indicated that he had assumed the resp nsi-
bi l ity for filing the appropriate legi s.lation to affect the
transfer of title to the 10 acre -site in-house bill
dated July 16, 2003. Rep. Patrick has indicated that Bill
No. 3938 did not get out of committee -and did not go to the
legislature' s floor for a vote, ' because there was' not lan-
guage agreement between DCR and the Mashpee Board of elect-
men and the "Committee" . Before Rep. Patrick can file a new
bill for the transfer of the 10 acre site to I ashpee, the
exact language, terms and conditions if am of the transfer
must be finalized between the involved parties hd-!__that language
be incorporated in the new bill,
Bill suggested that we recommend that the selectmen put a
time-limit on it.
Tack followed up with maybe there has to be legal action taken,
Maybe the Town has to sue the state to get Article 17 to hap-
pen.
m. Cramer explained: "I have a committment to Rep. Patrick
to help push along the new bill. The passage of the new bill
will reflect the end of all the negotiations concerning the
to acre site. The finalization o the l _acre site status is
important, not only to the committee but t; 1 particularly to
our former chairman Morris Kirsner. "
Iv WHERE DOES THE COMMITTEE WANT To Co FROM DERE
G!.' Stone Memorial with names : This is one of -the items that
has been on our list for two or threerears. Jack explained
that he had brought up the subject of the stone memorial
with Christine and Joe , Jack wanted Christine to read
it because it said, "Chairman Kirs er ade. of ren e..:.to._:a..
coittment- made..by DEM1,1_--Cofnmissioner, Richard Kendall
some years ago, that upon completion of the process ,
there would' be a stone memorial inscribed with the names#fr
Chm. Kirsner had appointed a sub-committee to follow up
on this commitment in 2002 .
