with a new permanent pier, ramp and float structure located at the seaward end all <br />supported by four posts and ten piles in the waters of Jehu Pond. The proposed pier <br />system will have access stairs to allow for shoreline access for fishing, fowling and <br />navigation purposes pursuant to Chapter 91 regulations. Also, the proposed project will <br />replace the existing licensed No 7238, concrete boat ramp, remove existing concrete walk <br />and replace with steps, remove existing concrete wall and steps, removed existing <br />licensed concrete retaining wall and replace with vinyl sheet pile retaining structure. Also, <br />proposed is a soft solution for bank stabilization, removal of a pine tree and vista pruning <br />for a view corridor with landscaping. A temporary staging area will be designated. The <br />existing licensed pier, ramp and float will be removed with the installation of the new dock <br />structure. The existing pine tree will be removed, concrete wall will be removed. The <br />proposed retaining wall will be built using vinyl sheet piles. The wall will include duckbill <br />anchors to minimize disturbance to the coastal bank. The proposed view corridor is <br />located within naturally vegetated buffer area. The proposed stairs will be installed. The <br />proposed soft solution bank stabilization is proposed to protect the end of the retaining wall <br />from scour during storms. The pier will be constructed and the decking will be composite <br />Thru-Flow for light penetration. The preassembled ramp and floats will be delivered to the <br />site and installed. Mr. Costa reviewed the proposal on the plans provided. <br /> <br />The Agent reviewed the photos of the site. He had concerns with the retaining wall and <br />the vinyl sheet piles. His recommendation was to use rock gabions because it allows <br />water to flow through. He also suggested using other plantings rather than American <br />Beach Grass because it is not conducive to this area. There was a discussion on the vinyl <br />wall vs. rock gabions. Following a lengthy discussion, the Agent suggested a site visit. <br />Mr. Costa requested a continuance. <br /> <br />Motion: Chad Smith moved to continue the hearing to September 27 at 6:24 p.m., <br />and the scheduling of a site visit at 6 Jehu Pond Rod, seconded by Stephanie <br />Simpson.
