Mashpee National Wildlife, annual meeting will be October 5 at the Library.

Update/Signatures: Childs River Conservation Area Land Lease to the Falmouth Road
and Gun Club (tabled for end of hearing Agenda)

The Agent stated this is a restoration effort that is a piece of Conservation Land that was
requested by the Falmouth Rod and Gun Club to be leased out to them so they could do
some restoration at the Charles River that used to be a herring run. The Club approached
the Commission and proposed a 30-year lease of the land. The reason they are spiriting
this is because the opportunity for grants is much higher for a nonprofit as opposed to a
municipality.

Ken Bates from the Rod and Gun Club reviewed the history and stated he was requesting
six copies of the lease to be signed by the Conservation Commissioners. He said their
intention is to create a cold-water fishery. He noted it is a 1.8 million dollar project and
they have grants totaling around $900,000. US Fish and Wildlife are donating the
$350,000 culvert and will also be donating $75,000 for construction. The Commissioners
signed the lease. The Agent noted on photos the parcel discussed where all the
restoration will take place.

Motion: Mr. Smith moved to enter into Executive Session to discuss Gooseberry
Island with respect to litigation as an open meeting may have a detriment effect on
the litigating position of this public body. Seconded by Mr. O’Neill. Roll Call Vote:
Mr. Smith, yes; Mr. O’Neill, yes; Mr. Dalton, yes; Mr. McKay, yes. Vote unanimous
4-0
