4 Community Preservation Committee Minutes December 18, 2018 NEW BUSINESS Deliberations on May 2019 Project Proposals: (continued) Conservation Land Restoration, Upper Quashnet River: $320,000: It was unanimously agreed this is a highly beneficial project to improve water quality, aquatic habitat, to restore cold-water fishery and to increase recreational activities. Motion made by Mr. Smith to approve and recommend to the May 2019 Special Town Meeting, the John's Pond Conservation Land; Restoration of the Upper Quashnet River project in the amount of$320,000 for Open Space & Recreation purposes. Motion seconded by Ms. Waygan. VOTE: Unanimous. 8-0. Roll Call Vote: Mr. Gottlieb,yes Mrs. Thayer,yes Mr. Hyde,yes Mr. Halpern,yes Ms. Waygan,yes Mr. Pizzo,yes Mr. Harsch,yes Mr. Smith,yes Opposed, none Garner Bogs/Upper Childs River Restoration Project: $240,510: Gary Anderson, Treasurer of the Falmouth Rod& Gun Club summarized the objectives of the Childs River Restoration project and benefits of providing recreational opportunities, improving water quality,to create a cold-water fishery and to restore wetlands. The project is one of 12 river and wetland initiatives that have been recognized as a Priority Project through the Department of Fish& Game Ecological Restoration division. This will enable the project to receive further grant opportunities and technical support. The project in its 60% design plan is near completion to move forward with permitting. Motion made by Mr. Hyde to approve and recommend to the May 2019 Special Town Meeting, the Garner Bogs/Upper Childs River Restoration project in the amount of $240,510 for Open Space and Passive Recreation purposes. Motion seconded by Mr. Smith. VOTE: Unanimous. 7-0-1.
