4 <br /> Community Preservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> December 18, 2018 <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Deliberations on May 2019 Project Proposals: (continued) <br /> Conservation Land Restoration, Upper Quashnet River: $320,000: <br /> It was unanimously agreed this is a highly beneficial project to improve water quality, aquatic <br /> habitat, to restore cold-water fishery and to increase recreational activities. <br /> Motion made by Mr. Smith to approve and recommend to the May 2019 Special Town <br /> Meeting, the John's Pond Conservation Land; Restoration of the Upper Quashnet River <br /> project in the amount of$320,000 for Open Space & Recreation purposes. <br /> Motion seconded by Ms. Waygan. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 8-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Mr. Gottlieb,yes Mrs. Thayer,yes Mr. Hyde,yes Mr. Halpern,yes <br /> Ms. Waygan,yes Mr. Pizzo,yes Mr. Harsch,yes Mr. Smith,yes <br /> Opposed, none <br /> Garner Bogs/Upper Childs River Restoration Project: $240,510: <br /> Gary Anderson, Treasurer of the Falmouth Rod& Gun Club summarized the objectives of the <br /> Childs River Restoration project and benefits of providing recreational opportunities, improving <br /> water quality,to create a cold-water fishery and to restore wetlands. The project is one of 12 <br /> river and wetland initiatives that have been recognized as a Priority Project through the <br /> Department of Fish& Game Ecological Restoration division. This will enable the project to <br /> receive further grant opportunities and technical support. The project in its 60% design plan is <br /> near completion to move forward with permitting. <br /> Motion made by Mr. Hyde to approve and recommend to the May 2019 Special Town <br /> Meeting, the Garner Bogs/Upper Childs River Restoration project in the amount of <br /> $240,510 for Open Space and Passive Recreation purposes. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Smith. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 7-0-1. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Mr. Gottlieb, abstained Mrs. Thayer,yes Mr. Hyde,yes Mr. Halpern,yes <br /> Ms. Waygan,yes Mr. Pizzo,yes Mr. Harsch,yes <br /> Mr. Smith,yes Opposed, none <br />
