5 <br /> Community Preservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> December 18, 2018 <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Deliberations on May 2019 Project Proposals: (continued) <br /> Mashpee Community Garden Reconstruction: $44,996: <br /> It was noted the original project was funded by the Community Preservation Committee. Due to <br /> lack of involvement, the community gardening initiative became inactive until the Community <br /> Garden Committee was formed. <br /> Members of the CPC discussed the merits of the project as well as concerns with maintenance. <br /> The site is located in a highly visible area off of Route 130 and the Department of Public Works <br /> is not able to commit to assist with this project. <br /> Virginia Scharfenberg, Chair of the Mashpee Community Garden Committee was in attendance <br /> to request support of the reconstruction project. With approval, Ms. Scharfenberg indicated <br /> work would be contracted with members of the Master Garden program and with AmeriCorps <br /> volunteers. The educational component of the gardens will tie in with the endeavors of the <br /> Historical Commission for the 150'h Anniversary of the Town of Mashpee. <br /> Motion made by Mr. Smith to approve and recommend to the May 2019 Special Town <br /> Meeting the Mashpee Community Garden Reconstruction project in the amount of$44,996 <br /> for Open Space & Recreation purposes. <br /> Motion seconded by Ms. Waygan. <br /> VOTE: 6-1-1.
