Community Preservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> March 2. 2017 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS: <br /> Leila Botsfordmash ee Housing Authorit —QJ date on Housm* Assistance pro ani: <br /> (continued) <br /> Ms. Botsford indicated the rental assistance program is the most popular program expending <br /> $205000 to $29,000 per quarter. This past month there has been several mortgage assistance <br /> applications which would be repaid. Approximately 65% - 70%of the loans are repaid. In the <br /> first three years of the program$8,000 was tallied in uncollected debt. <br /> With the lapse 'in fundi' the program in general has been lacking participation. Ms. Botsford; <br /> indicated she intends to place information regarding the Mashpee Housing Assistance Program <br /> as a link on the Town's web site; It vias suggested that a brochure be developed for <br /> dissemination, <br /> The Housing Assistance program gives preference to Mashpee residents and Veterans, for those <br /> who live and work in Mashpee,for those who live in Mashpee and for those who may be moving <br /> to Mashpee and are in need of assistance. Approximately 40%of the programa participants are <br /> 55 plus years of age. <br /> It was agreed if the program becomes more successful, it may be beneficial for the Housing <br /> Authority to submit an application for ensuing yea's as the Town has the ability to opt out of the <br /> CPC in oto. There has been discussion regarding a possible change in the 3%CPA surcharge <br /> that may be earmarked for wastewater arrd other funding endeavors of the Town of Mashpee. <br /> In closing, FIs. Botsford noted the funding also supports those who are in need due to unforeseen <br /> circumstances such as a medical diagnosis, loss of employment or other crisis that may � <br /> nuence <br /> the need for funding assistance. The program is not ust for love income families. <br />
