He described the proposed project <br /> is the expansion of the existing dock and addition of two piles. One float will be added <br /> parallel to the shore which will entail adding two pilings. There is adequate depth along <br /> the entire length, <br /> The Agent stated-both the harbormaster and the shellfish agent have reviewed the plan <br /> and have no issues. Shellfish recommended we put a condition in that no prop dredging <br /> take place. The harbormaster has no issues with the setbacks. There was a discussion <br /> whether the existing float is encapsulated but if is not it should be. <br /> No comments from the public <br /> Motion: Mr. McKay moved to close and Issue with the condition if the existing <br /> float is not encapsulated it will be, and prop wash dredging will not occur. <br /> seconded by Mr. smith. Mote unanimous 4-0 <br /> Prepost/Hearing Agenda (continued) <br /> Administrative Approval request: Justin Fleming. sea Run Brook Trout coalition. <br /> Proposed habitat improvement for Brook Trout on santuit liver. <br /> The Agent introduced Justin Fleming to describe the project for proposed habitat <br /> improvement for Brook Trout on santuit River. Justin Fleming gave a brief description <br /> and pictures to the commissioners from Santuit River and gave the history of brook trout <br /> in Mashpee. He spoke about passage for herring and brook trout. He said the proposal <br /> is to put back the woody structure in the river that was removed and secure it in a way <br /> that it would create habitat for the brook trout and create passage for the herring. He is <br /> hoping with the habitat improvements to increase the herring plus create habitat for the <br /> brook trout. Stere Hurley from mass Fish and Wildlife will be introducing brook trout and <br /> would like to do something to give thea a fighting chance. The project area is from Old <br /> [Dill Rd in Mashpee to Old Dings Road in Barnstable down to the estuary. Following a <br /> discussion, the Agent stated he fully supports this project and recommended this project <br /> go forward. Justin stated Steve Hurley will keep the conservation office up to date on <br /> this project. <br /> Update: Mashpee River Herring Run sediment Loading., <br /> The Agent stated he met with Sel6ctman Gottlieb and the Tribe on the sand build up In <br /> the concrete flume on 130. There was an order of conditions worked out a few gears <br /> ago for conditions such as this. At the top of the flume there is a substantial buildup of <br /> sand. The proposal is to bring in volunteers to dig out the sand from the concrete flume <br /> but if need be, an excavator may need to be brought.in. The sand and the silt would be <br /> brought to the landfill. This is maintenance that hasn't been done for a long time. <br />
