It is not the response of what the Town Planner has <br /> made, but what the Town has made of it stated Ms. Williams. <br /> f <br /> APPORWTUENTS AND HEARINGS• <br /> H •n - Town Planner: <br /> Tom Fudala,the Town Planner <br /> • Was present with his attorney Alec Watt <br /> to discuss a quote that was attributed to him and published in the Boston <br /> Globe on June 23, 1996 with members of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Town Counsel,AttorneyEverett Marder was resent n <br /> p o behalf of the <br /> Board of Selectmen■ <br /> Mr.Fudala indicated that he has chosen to discuss the allegations in <br /> Open Session to exercise his rights of free speech. <br /> Attorney Marder indicated that he was consulted at the release of the press <br /> article. It was decided that Mr. Fudala would be given th <br /> ■ gi a opportunity ,. <br /> to address the issue with members of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Attorney Marder noted that several citizens spoke in support of <br /> Mr. Fudala during Public Discussion. <br /> As noted,Mr.Fudala is a public employee, is restrictive on <br /> what <br /> is said as a Town Planner, and was quoted to making statements <br /> derogatory as a public official. = <br /> 1 <br /> The Board of Selectmen received several citizen complaints regarding <br /> p <br /> certain statements relative to New Seabury that were quoted in the press <br /> as having been made by Mr. Fudala. <br /> i <br /> With respect to the newspaper article,Mr.Fudala indicated that he was <br /> interviewed in his office on May 28, 1996 to discuss the legal battle <br /> . Y g <br /> between Burden v. Brown as it relates to the Southport and New Seabury <br /> communities. <br /> The reporter from the Globe used the word „sleaze" in his question <br /> indicated Mr.Fudala who noted that he felt it was a strange word to use <br /> during the lengthy interview process. <br />
