Page 8 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 15, 1996 <br /> Town Dock:. <br /> Perry Ellis,Harbor Master, Richard York, Shellfish Constable, and <br /> Jim Hanks, Chairman of the waterways Commission were present to <br /> discuss the proposal to construct a Town dock facility on Seconsett Island. <br /> Residents of the Seconsett Island Association were present to address <br /> their questions and concerns of the size, use and location of the proposed <br /> dock facility. <br /> A memo was submitted to the Board dated June 18, 1996 from the <br /> Steering Committee of the Seconsett Island Association regarding this <br /> matter. <br /> In addition,communication was received from Kevin Harrington, <br /> Treasurer of Save the Bay,Inc. dated July 14, 1995 in support of the <br /> plan for a Town dock facility. <br /> Mr.Ellis indicated that at this time,the Town uses a small facility <br /> adjacent and owned by the Little River Boatyard. The site for a Town <br /> Dock facility on Little River is a central location for the office of the <br /> Harbor Master and Shellfish Department. <br /> At this time,the Town does not have a dock facility noted Mr.Ellis <br /> who stated that the small project as proposed will contain six to ten <br /> parking spaces, and allow for residents to load and off load their <br /> dinghys. There is no ramp to launch boats. <br /> Several residents related concerns with respect to increased area traffic. <br /> There are tremendous parking problems on the causeway. The no parking <br /> signs have also not been replaced in fifteen years stated Phil McCanter a <br /> resident of the island since 1948. <br /> Mr.Ellis indicated that he has proposed to allot dock space for six <br /> dinghys. Residents can obtain the space on a first come basis. <br /> Richard Furlani expressed concern to the allotment of dock space in <br /> addition to restroom facilities necessary to accommodate additional <br /> residents. <br /> Art Luckcraft indicated that the Seconsett Island residents are against the <br /> dock as proposed for public use. We are not against the proposed 24'x28' <br /> building, but we oppose additional area traffic stated Mr.Luckcraft. <br /> Ginnie Driscoll indicated that several residents have deeded rights to the <br /> area. She questioned the Town's use as proposed. <br /> `Town Counsel to review. <br />
