Y
Mallory Lan ler seconded the ,notion. The notion was unanimously approved.
7:30 FSM —Title v Variance— 134 Algonquin Avenue.
Glen Harrington commented that several variances are requested to allow the repair of the existing Soil
Absorption System which was originally installed off the property of 134 Algonquin Avenue. The variance that
is causing the plan to be reviewed by the Board is the abutting property line variance. Mr. Darrington reviewed
the plan, and the engineer has addressed all comments, questions and concerns. The site constraints are
definitely an issue. The design is considered to moot maximum feasible compliance.
Peter McEntee P.E., with Engineering Works, representing 134 Algonquin Avenue, introduced himself to the
Board.
Mr. McEntee stated that the objective was to install the system as far away from the water in order not to install
a denitrification system. The system has been in failure for quite a while and requires pumping on a weekly
basis. Mr. McEntee is proposing a system to accommodate a -bedroom house and is requesting five
variances:
1. A 4} variance} Boil Absorption System to front property line, for a ' setback.
. A 4} variance, Boil Absorption System to side property line, for a 6' setback.
3. A 6' variance, Soil Absorption System to cellar wall} for a 14' setback.
4. A ' variance to depth of cover over the concrete chambers, for 5' of cover over-Soil Absorption
System.
5. A 6} variance, Soil Absorption System, to water service, for a 4' setback.
Mallory Langler made a motion that the Board of Health approve the proposed septic system at 134 Algonquin
Avenue provided that;
1. The property line adjacent to the proposed Soil Absorption System be staked in the field prior to
installation of the Soil Absorption system.
. A 40 rail liner be installed to provide 10 feet of protection to the existing water service.
. An additional 40 aril litter be installed between the system and the basement due to the reduced
setback, or extend the sante liner used for the 5' strip out.
Laurel Almquist seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.
7:35 P —Title V Variance— 13 spoondrift Way.
Glen Harrington stated that a couple variances are requested to allow the repair of the existing septic system
at 13 spoondrift Way, which appeared to be failed due to high groundwater. The site constraints, mainly depth
to groundwater, are definitely an issue. The design is considered to meet maximum feasible compliance by
having the soil Absorption System placed at the higher part of the property to provide the five feet to
groundwater.
Peter McEntee I .E., with Engineering Works, representing 13 spoondrift Way, introduced himself to the
Board.
Mr. McEntee remarked that this is a failed septic system because of the proximity to the water table. This has a
walkout basement; :and the e isfinq plumbing goes through the cellar floor. Cllr. McEntee is proposing a - -
combination 15001500 gallon septic tank/pump chamber closer to the parking area so that it will be easier to
install. The following variances are requested:
1. A 48' variance Boil Absorption System to coastal bank, for a } setback.
. A variance to the 12" separation requirement between high groundwater and septic tank inlet and/or
outlet pipes, to allow these pipes to be located at, or below, high g round water. All pipe connections
shall be water tight.
3
