Mr.Fisher noted that geophysics are an inexpensive method to <br /> determine different depths of soils, and borings will give detailed <br /> information of actual soils while specific monitoring wells augment <br /> existing well clusters. <br /> Mr.Fisher indicated that the MMR has been receptive to his firms <br /> approach to the clean-up process. Field work is scheduled to begin <br /> in the spring of 1997. It was noted that the Federal Government has <br /> committed funds for this purpose. <br /> We have a system in place to address the Town of Mashpee's concerns <br /> indicated Mr.Fisher who stated that he is confident that his <br /> recommendations to the Base will be addressed on behalf of the Town. <br /> Mr.Fisher reviewed the general scope of services relative to the review <br /> of the eastern Briarwood plume and approaches to the FS-1 2 plume. <br /> Recommendations include; the assessment of the influence of John's Pond, <br /> a pilot test for the treatment fence location,well screen design, and <br /> monitoring well arrays. <br /> Mr.Fisher recommended to conduct the pilot test as close to the pump and <br /> treat well as possible if the treatment is supported by the area residents. <br /> Ted Lewis, a resident of the Briarwood community, and member of the <br /> Board of Directors indicated that abutters are concerned with the treatment <br /> fence location as proposed. <br /> Diane Rommelmeyer stated that many residents are concerned with <br /> diminished property values. The pilot test well and related placement will <br /> be an agenda topic of discussion at the next Board of Directors meeting. <br /> Mr.Fisher indicated that it is important to obtain public input of the design <br /> and end use of the structures in con sen su s with the Federal Government <br /> to effectively address contaminant grounds in the Briarwood area.. <br /> Selectman Caffyn related additional concerns with respect to the J. Brayden <br /> Thorp son plume and adjacent cranberry bog located in the area of <br /> Mashpee/Wakeby Pond. <br /> Mr. Fisher was directed to present cost estimates to the Board to further <br /> respond to the Briarwood pilot test plan, and J. Brayden Thompson plume. <br /> *Future agenda item. <br />
