Cardboard has value at $30 per ton and would continue to be collected separately to offset costs
associated to recycling.
Glass would be tipped at the Dennis Transfer Station and processed for reuse as road base or similar
purposes. There will be a tip fee for processing. Cans would be tipped in Westport at a recycling facility.
The payment the Town would receive is $100 per ton and would offset costs associated to recycling.
Newspaper will also be tipped at a recycling facility in Westport or Mansfield. Separation is
recommended as mixed paper will generate a tip fee. The current amount paid for newspaper is $55 per
ton. Mixed paper would require a tip fee. The current recycling fee is $50 per ton. Plastic#1-7 will be
tipped at a recycling facility in Mansfield. The current fee is $40 per ton. Rigid plastic would continue to
be collected separately.
The implementation plan is proposed in four months to allow for modifications to the recycling area, for
permitting if necessary, and to educate the staff and the users of the facility.
