York: "Suspension of his permits in Mashpee will be set up so he won't be able to renew his
license until the investigation is complete. At that time the permit may then be revoked or
renewed based on the findings."
Opie: "As far as safety concerns go, don't approach something you don't feel comfortable with,
always take down license plate numbers if you are unsure about an individual, and call the EPO
in your area. This is a multistep process, and if we can get confirmation on the theft and records
we can prove more likely than not that these individuals are taking from licensed grant holders in
Mashpee. Kenny has already received three separate citations, all of which can have subsequent
offences available. He has been cited for no tags on a product, taking shellfish from a grant area,
and under C.M.R. 322 sec.16.04."
Christensen: "This should be considered a criminal charge. Which means we cannot prove without
reasonable doubt, but it is more likely than not that the individual did in fact steal the oysters."
Fisher: "How far back do the records go?"
Opie: "I have transactions from all of 2018. Kenny Thompson has harvest over 13,000 oysters
from SC16, SC19, and SC20. There is also evidence of back-dooring product through private
sale as well as sales posted through Facebook."
Thomas: "Thank you for coming tonight, and please keep us updated."
Fisher: "Needless to say most of our oyster stock for the rest of the oyster season has been
depleted from Mashpee Neck Landing."
Thomas: "We should have a press released about why there is a lack of oysters this year."
Holmes: "I have been approached and people are wondering why all the oysters are gone."
York: "The selectman will advertise about the suspension, they have to advertise for a public
hearing for a minimum of 10 days."
Opie: "Once the suspension is issued, if you find him digging he will have to answer to more
questions and explain his actions."
Marques: "If the press release is issued we should ask for awareness and eyes and ears on the
water. Maybe this could be accomplished through the volunteer program."
Thomas: "Thank you and good job Ashley with the enforcement. We need more staff to enforce
due to the fact that the town is open to shellfishing 7 days a week. Enforcement is needed to
