<br /> available funds $59,370 with said funds to be distributed as follows:$35,776 to the Department of
<br /> Public Works Salary/Wage Account; $23,040 to the Medical Insurance Account; $35 to the Group
<br /> Insurance Account, and $519 to the Medicare Account.

<br /> To see if the Town will vote to create the position of full-time (40 hours/week) Maintainer I in the
<br /> Department of Public Works under the Service Employees International Union, Local 888, AFL-
<br /> CIO Public Works Unit, and for said purpose to see if the Town will vote to appropriate and
<br /> transfer from available funds $55,107 with said funds to be distributed as follows: $31,574 to the
<br /> Department of Public Works Salary/Wage Account; $23,040 to the Medical Insurance Account;
<br /> $35 to the Group Insurance Account, and $458 to the Medicare Account, or take any other action
<br /> relating thereto.

<br /> Explanation: The Department of Public Works is responsible for maintenance of over 75 miles
<br /> of Town roads, 6 miles of bike paths, 35 acres of athletic fields, 13 Town buildings and grounds,
<br /> 3 beaches, 4 cemeteries, and various parks and landscape areas (Veteran's Park, Community
<br /> Garden, Mashpee Rotary, etc.). Routine work includes road repair, signage installation, drainage
<br /> cleaning, repair and installation, snow plowing and sanding, road sweeping, mowing, tree
<br /> trimming, trash clean-up, and landscaping clean up and maintenance. While maintenance
<br /> responsibilities have grown over the years, with construction of new buildings, expansion of
<br /> Heritage Park, acceptance of private roads, and creation of new recreational areas, the number of
<br /> employees within the DPW has remained the same. The proposed Maintainer I would assist with
<br /> daily operations within the department.
