5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> March 11, 2019 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> Representative David Viera: Legislative Update: <br /> Representative David Viera met with the Board of Selectmen to review current matters of <br /> interest. This includes a new trail connection from Sage Pond to South Cape Beach. There have <br /> been discussions regarding the realignment of Wills Work Road. Due to unfavorable site <br /> conditions,this will most likely not occur. To reach compromise, the road will be maintained <br /> annually by the state for public safety response. To ensure regular maintenance, a municipal use <br /> agreement is planned between the state and town. <br /> The Town can expect to receive Chapter 90 reimbursement monies for road work. As in normal <br /> course, a one year authorization is expected. Regarding the Home Rule authorization regarding <br /> the sewer fund, there have been some glitches. The Town has the option to resubmit the petition. <br /> Representative Viera offered assistance with any special legislation the Town may have. <br /> Other general matters were briefly discussed. There was a question regarding the use of CPA <br /> funding to digitize library materials. Restoration is considered permissible however digitization <br /> is not considered a preservation of a record. <br /> Representative Vieira indicated that major construction on the Bourne Bridge is expected at the <br /> end of March and it is the recommendation of the Army Corps of Engineers to replace both <br /> bridges in the future. A final report is forthcoming. There will be coordination and <br /> infrastructure improvements planned during the construction phase of this project. <br /> Cape Cod Commission- Mashpee Rotary Study: <br /> Colin Tucker was in attendance representing the Cape Cod Commission to announce the <br /> upcoming public meetings planned for the Mashpee Rotary Corridor Study. To gain input a <br /> Mashpee Rotary Study Team is holding public listening sessions on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at <br /> 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Mashpee Public Library, 64 Steeple Street, Mashpee. <br /> Mr. Tucker indicated that public engagement is a key component of this project to fully <br /> understand the issues and opportunities observed for this area. The project will encompass <br /> bypass roads and would include sidewalk areas to accommodate all roadway users. A major <br /> realignment is planned to improve traffic challenges. <br />
