Page 7 ,
Chief Priestly: "relationship with any of them. "
Sel, Garland: "When your personnel makes an investigation of a fire, to
satisfy your needs , do you provide them with a transcript
of their findings?
Chief Priestly: "To date all I know is that they talk with one an other
that' s all I know. "
Chm, Thomas : "Okay, I have a fire at my building, the Town has submitted
an investigation, they make a determination, than. I have my
insurance company come, . they make a determination, than the
fire marshall comes and he makes a determination, how do we
make a final decision on whether or not I have set that fire
or not?"
Chief Priestly: "We work closely with the State fire marshal , "
Chm, Thomas : "Don' t we pull our resources and come up with one . . . "
Sel , Garland: "The'-,thing that bothers me is I assume that you, and I use
you in the broad sense, have an investigation conducted or
police department if there is criminal negligence involved,
but you are not working or relaying to an insurance company
your findings , "
ChiefUriestly "Our reports go -to the State Fire Marshall , "
Sel, Garland: " But you do not send .them to , the insurance company, whatever
investigation the insurance company uses to determine whe-
ther they are going to pay the claim or not is their own
investigation, they do not rely on your investigation. "
Chm, Thomas : " What they do is rely on the State.
Sel, Garland: " That isn' t why I am trying to find a tie in here , "
Chief Frye: "In our investigation we don't give out any information if it
is going to court, "
Chm, Thomas : " Than yours stays in-house?"
Chief Frye: " we don' t give out any information to the insurance company
until it has gone to court. "
Chm. Thomas : "Okay, how about the State? '
Chief Frye: "Well if the State is investigating with us we know. "'
Chief Priestly : "And our reports go in directly to the State Fire Marshal.."
Chm, Thomas : " So that insurance company must work with the State, "
Sel, Garland: " What I am getting at is that the normal procedure is that
You do not communicate with the insurance company, "
