Minutes of Meeting of
Design Review Committee
Held Tuesday, May 21, 2019
Mashpee Town Hall Waquoit Meeting Room
Miles asked what type of plantings would be installed. He said he would like to see native
plantings for the surrounding parking areas. He suggested the low lying blueberry bushes,
and black-eyed susans integrate well with the surrounding existing area, and landscape _
swales. He suggested that the applicant consult, with a professional landscaper. He asked
if the drain basins will have plants.
Raul said that he has a landscape plan for the parking lot and along Echo Road. He will
incorporate the suggestions into the decision. He said that the basins are going to be
grassed lined and he could incorporate the blueberry bushes around the basins. He
wouldn't want to have them within the basins because of possible erosion issues.
Charlie recapped the suggestions to the committee,to receive a landscape plan, elevations
of the building, and the colors of the facade. The committee needs a hard copy full
landscape plan.
John Connell provided the committee with the color scheme from his computer. They were
satisfied but wanted to receive a hard copy.
Motion:
Bill Blaisdell made a motion with the conditions of a full landscape plan, a plan scale for
the signage of the building, and color scheme of the building so the committee can provide
written comments for the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Joe Cummings seconded. All were in favor.
8:50 am Business name: To be determined
Project Address: 9 Shellback Way
Owner/Agent: Faith J. It's directly across the street from
Wicked Pizza. The project consists of a 6400 sq, ft, commercial building for retail space
and office space. The plan depicts the building situated close to the Route 28. The parking
is situated in the rear of the lot. Matt said he reviewed the general layout and discussed
the access plan for Rte. 28 with the Town Administrator and the Town Planner. There will
be a right turn driveway into the lot, and a right turn out of the lot.
Matt said he reviewed his landscape plan. with the Town Planner, but would like
suggestions from the committee and discuss his vision to create a street corridor, and
essentially match the existing 'landscape layout that is in front of Wicked Pizza, He is
proposing to put a row of shade trees, and vegetation along the lawn areas that transition
up the hill. The dark green areas on the plan would include understory vegetation, shrubs,
native species and drought tolerant to minimize watering requirements. The shade trees
will wrap around the side of the building, and along the property.
2
