Minutes of Meeting of
Mashpee Plan Review Committee
Held Tuesday, May 21, 2019
Mashpee Town Hall Waquoit Meeting Room
The septic system calculation is about 600 gallons a day that will trigger a Denite
system. The architectural drawings were keeping with Cape Cod Commission
design requirements. All the drainage will be handled onsite. The parking will be in _
the rear of the structure, and the primary access on Shellback Way.
Police Chief Scott Carline is satisfied. No comments. .
Catherine Laurent DPW Director
A permit will be required from DOT. Her concern is the proposed one way entrance
and exit onto Rte.28. She would like to have the island more restrictive to eliminate
illegal vehicle movements. Matt said there will be appropriate signage and
markings, and cap style strips at the entrance. He said Mass Highway will be
providing their standard requirements. Catherine asked about snow removal in the
parking lot. Matt said that the snow will be pushed along the north side of the
building, and toward some of the drainage systems. Catherine asked if there was
any contact with the owners from Shellback Way regarding the road maintenance.
She is concerned with the increase in traffic. Shellback Way is private road that
has fallen into disrepair, and no one is accepting responsibility on the maintenance
of the road. Matt said; he has not been in contact with anyone. He said he will
reach out to the association.
Glen Harrington, Board of Health Agent
Glen is concerned that this site is going to be a cut-through at the light and is a
safety hazard. He asked if the road can be designed to avoid this issue. Matt said
he can look into speed tables. Glen asked if there has to be access off of Rte. 28.
Matt said he reviewed this with the Town Planner. Glen recommended the Denite
system. Glen asked if there will be food service in the building. Matt said; no. Glen
said that it would be easier to install the septic for 1000 gallons per day minimum
if there will be a restaurant. The grease trap can be added later but the leaching is
different. Glen is glad that the denite is going in. Glen said a variance will be
needed for the septic under the pavement. Matt said it will be in the front. Glen
asked what the technology is. Matt said; fast. Glen said that the .9 can go into the
same tank, but he will check the commercial requirements. Matt said he will look
into the requirements. Glen had no more comments.
Charlie Maintains, Building Inspector
Charlie asked about the existing sloped grade design. Matt said he will be cutting
into the slope, and transition off into a flat area. Charlie had no more comments.
5 .
