4 <br /> Community Preservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> January 24, 2019 <br /> COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE <br /> The Community Preservation Committee was noted to have received recent correspondence <br /> from Town Counsel in response to guidance requested regarding several pending projects. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Continued Deliberations on May 2019 Project Proposals: <br /> Mashpee War Monument: $285,000: <br /> Motion made by Mr. Hyde to amend the previous vote of the CPC regarding this project, <br /> and vote to approve and recommend to the May 2019 Special Town Meeting the amount of <br /> $285,000 for the Mashpee War Monument project as identified. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Smith. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 7-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Mr. Gottlieb,yes Mr. Hyde,yes Mr. Halpern,yes Mr. Larkin,yes <br /> Ms. Waygan,yes Mr. Harsch,yes Mr. Smith,yes Opposed, none <br /> Mashpee 150th Anniversary: $100,000: <br /> It is the opinion of Town Counsel, the use of CPA funds for Town anniversary celebratory <br /> events and publicly therefor would not be a permissible use. CPA funds can be used for the <br /> acquisition, preservation, rehabilitation and restoration of historic resources as defined under <br /> M.G.L., Chapter 4413, Section 2: A building, structure, vessel, real property, document or <br /> artifact that is listed on the state register of historic places or has been determined by the local <br /> historic preservation commission to be significant in the history, archaeology, architecture, or <br /> culture of a city or town. <br /> The Historical Commission remitted communication to the CPC dated January 3, 2019 regarding <br /> the importance of celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Town of Mashpee's incorporation. <br /> Motion made by Ms. Waygan to take no action on the Mashpee 150th Anniversary project. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Halpern. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 6-0-1. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Mr. Gottlieb,yes Mr. Hyde, abstained Mr. Halpern,yes Mr. Larkin,yes <br /> Ms. Waygan,yes Mr. Harsch,yes Mr. Smith,yes Opposed, none <br />
