The association wishes to construct two (2)
beach signs mounted on steel 1-beams at each entrance to their private coastal beach (Rock
Landing Beach). The signs would be installed in the transition area of coastal beach and coastal
dunes. Mr. Rothschild described the signs, locations of installations and materials used. A fellow
association member expressed concerns over the proposed height of the signs and the use of
steel 1-beams for support instead of wooden posts. There was some exchange about the signs
between the applicant, the association member and the commission. The Agent recommended
using metal locking poles instead of 1-beams so that the signs could be removed seasonally
without having to dismantle them in a laborious way. The Agent recommended a Negative
Determination with some advice on materials to be used to support the signs.
Resource Areas: Coastal beach, coastal dune, LSCSF (velocity zone), buffer zone to Land
Under Ocean.
Motion: Mr. Sweet moved for a Negative Determination, seconded by Mr. O'Neill.
