No
Any questions from the Sever Commission? No
Tom Fudala then introduced the members of the Sewer Commis ion:
Toni Fudala, Chairman and also Mashpee town planner
F John Cahalane, also Mashpee Selectmen
Dennis Balzarini, also a Manning Board member.
The Sewer Commission is an elected board.
Mr. Schlaikjer asked the applicant if they wish to make a presentation?
Tom Fudala explained the presentations will be made by the consultants to the project,Date
Weeks of Stearns and Wheeler. Dr. Arian Howes of UMass Dartmouth SMASH'is the scientific
consultant for this study. This project is a long time in its evolution. Where has been extensive monitoring of the
nitrogen loading to the area and the impacts are now well understood. This next step is t
determine the solutions.
e presented a neap, with the red lines shoving the study area and the grey lines the boundary of
the town of Mashpee. Some of the study area is outside of the town boundary.
This study will produce a model which will be used to evaluate the various alternatives for
mitigation within the watershed in order to Borne up with-the most cost effective solution. The
scope of work for the study was developed by the Sewer Commission and has 9 different phases.
The steps will include determining and evaluating the alternatives then narrowing them down
and finally presenting a plan.
The Sewer Commission and Board of Selectmen are in the process of appointing a Community
Advisory Committee for this plan.
Nate weeks briefly discussed the scope of work. First will be a review of existing condition and
nitrogen loading. A needs assessment of the project area will then be available for public
comment.
Alternative technologies will be reviewed. S & w will produce 5 pains of scenarios including
potential discharge location and pipeline scenarios. They ill then narrow down the scenarios
and finally develop the selected scenario into a recommended plan. This will then be available
for public review.
There will then be final review by ME PA and for DRI review by the Cape Cod Commission.
2
