4 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> December 2, 2019 <br /> 1501h Anniversary Committee Update: Chair Brian Hyde: (continued) <br /> The Mashpee Community Park is planned for use on Saturday, May 30, 2020. It is proposed <br /> that Route 130 and Quashnet Road be closed from 12:00-4:00 p.m. to allow for parking and <br /> walks to and from Town Hall to the Park. The Archives building, One-room School house and <br /> Indian Museum would be open for visitors. A walking tour of the Historic District is planned as <br /> well as trolley tours. Mr. Hyde indicated that a time capsule dedication and presentation of the <br /> 1501h community gift are also included in the planning efforts. <br /> In addition food and entertainment would be offered by food trucks in front of Town Hall and <br /> vendors. Bands and singers would be scheduled throughout the day. An authentic Wampanoag <br /> clambake is also planned as is a 50' Ferris wheel for the added sensation of viewing the Town <br /> of Mashpee from the air. <br /> Additional support is required for site amenities,police and fire details. <br /> It was agreed Mr. Hyde would meet with the Town Manager, and DPW Director as well as <br /> applicable Department Heads to further review the specifics of the proposal, which include <br /> insurance requirements and return to the Board of Selectmen with a recommendation. <br /> DPW Catherine Laurent: <br /> Discussion and Approval of Cape &Vineyard Electric Cooperative (CVEC) Round 5 <br /> PV/Storage Initiative: <br /> Catherine Laurent, Director of Public Works indicated that bids were received on November 13, <br /> 2019 for the procurement of solar roof-mounted and/or canopy projects. Through the Cape & <br /> Vineyard Electric Cooperative (CVEC) Round 5PV/Storage Initiative,the Town received bids <br /> for the installation of additional solar projects. <br /> It was recommended the Town move forward with an agreement for all 5 installations. The <br /> locations under consideration include the Mashpee Middle/High School (canopy) with a battery <br /> to offset peak demands,the Quashnet School canopy and/or roof and the KC Coombs School <br /> canopy and/or roof. <br /> The Town would enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with CVEC whereby the Town <br /> would receive the benefit of the electricity generated (behind the meter usage or net metering <br /> credits). And, the Power Purchase Agreement with the developer would be signed by the Cape <br /> &Vineyard Electric Cooperative. <br /> It is anticipated the Town of Mashpee would save $700,000 annually with all 5 systems. In the <br /> program, excess electricity generated can be assigned to other municipal buildings. <br />
