Minutes of Meeting
Plan Review Committee
Held Tuesday, October 1., 2019
Mashpee Town Hall Waquoit Meeting Room
Jen Hoyt had said it wasn't just the quantity of the methanol that there are other
chemicals that are used for cleaning that are also flammable and to be careful about
the amount that is stored because that can bump up the hazard. Rob. said; it's
ethanol not methanol to clarify. He said they use ethanol to clean. Tom said his
main concern is about the transfer of the chemicals. If using a ventilation system
there should not be anything that is harmful in the moving process from storage to
the vacuum system. The State said that is the most vulnerable part of the process.
Tom said that he refers to the State, and they are more than happy to meet with all
parties, and include the Building Department.
Charlie said there needs to be a discussion regarding a sprinkler system and
Whether it is required or not. Charlie said to Rob that his team has been very
conservative regarding the codes in their understanding of the codes, saying that
the entire building needs to be sprinkled. He needs to do more research, and will
have to discuss.
Rob mentioned that he read about the non-combustible material versus how to
make the room fire proof. Charlie said he spoke to Greggory.
Glen Harrington, Health Agent:
He does not have any issues on the use or the amount of people. He did a "walk-
through", reviewed the floor plans, will adjust where needed. The venting was the
issue discussed earlier, and as long as that has been reviewed and approved by
the Fire.Department and Building Department,'and if they are all set, than he is all
set. Rob said he is proposing a more sophisticated ventilation system than he
discussed with Glen. He will discuss the permitting process later on.
There were no more comments.
Evan moved to recommend that the Zoning Board of Appeals approve the
modifications of the Special Permit, and that the applicant continues to meet with
the Building Department and Fire Chief to discuss any code related.issues that will
impact the'issuance of a building permit. This motion is specific to the permit, the
building and the use that the code related issues be dealt with which are still being
discussed. Rodney commented that Evan is recommending approval with the code
related issues being addressed. Rodney, second. All were in favor. No one
opposed.
6
