20
Report of the Shellfish Warden
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen:
I hereby submit my report as Shellfish Warden.
Scallop fishing was fairly good this year and there seems
to be a good set of seed for next year. Quahogs seem to be
more plentiful now than before in Great River and the
Narrows into Jehu's Pond, Hamblins Pond and fairly good in
Popponesset Bay. I also planted 3001/2 bushels in Ockway
Bay and 121 bushels in the southerly end of Jehu's Pond,
These areas are closed to fishing now. Clams are plentiful
in Hamblin's Pond, Jehu's Pond and Sedge Lot Pond.
You will find an article in the Town Warrant asking
for another appropriation for quahogs and oysters.
I wish to thank all the citizens for their cooperation.
Respectfully submitted,
EDWARD S. TAVARES,
Shellfish Warden
i
i
Vi
